The community of Dominican friars and students at the French Biblical and Archaeological School of Jerusalem (ÉBAF) gathered at St Stephen’s Convent to celebrate the start of a new academic year. Amidst the rows of books in our library and the stones of the atrium, scholarly research and prayer are resuming their normal rhythm.
A highly diverse intake
Once again this year, the School is welcoming researchers and students from all corners of the world to study biblical exegesis, archaeology and many other disciplines.
- Five new Dominican friars have joined the School, coming from France, Burkina Faso, the United States and Cameroon.
- Five students are beginning their studies in Jerusalem towards a Licentiate in Sacred Scripture, immersing themselves in the study of languages and comparing biblical texts with the topographical and archaeological realities of the Holy Land.
- Two new PhD students are embarking on the great adventure of their thesis at the ÉBAF, benefiting from 24/7 access to the library and daily contact with an interdisciplinary team of lecturers and researchers.
Support the School’s mission
Whether you are in Canada, the United States, Switzerland or elsewhere, the ÉBAF counts on your continued support.
For just a few dozen euros, you can help us purchase the academic books that will complement the 460,000 volumes in our specialised research library, which is unique in the world. But your donations can also help fund scholarships for young researchers or enable the ÉBAF to cover expenses related to research in biblical studies and archaeology.
Whatever the amount of your donation, you can receive a tax receipt in the countries listed on our website and join the Friends of the ÉBAF associations that exist in several countries.
Research is priceless, but it does come at a cost. We are counting on your support.
