On March 12, 2018, the École Biblique et Archéologique Française in Jerusalem had the honor of welcoming Archbishop Hyginus Kim Hee-Joong, Archbishop of the Diocese of Gwangju (South Korea) and President of the Korean Episcopal Conference.
He was accompanied by Archbishop Matthias Ri Iong-Hoon of the Archdiocese of Suwon. Their visit marked a meaningful moment of fraternity and exchange between the ÉBAF and the Korean Church.
Their visit provided an opportunity to explore the development of future collaborations in biblical formation between the ÉBAF and the Catholic Church in Korea. The delegation was warmly received by Fr. Jean Jacques Pérennès, Director of the École, Fr. Martin Staszak, Prior of the Saint Stephen Convent, as well as two faculty members: Msgr. Émile Puech, Professor Emeritus, and Fr. Nicolò Rizzolo, Visiting Professor — both renowned specialists in Qumran studies.
