One of the faithful friends and supporters of the École biblique of Jérusalem passed away in 2021: Edward John Jackman.
A member of the Order of St. Dominic, then a priest incardinated in the diocese of Toronto, Edward Jackman was passionate about history: he was president and then secretary for many years of the Canadian Catholic Historical Association, and with the help of a family foundation, the Jackman Foundation, he supported the work of many young historians as well as several institutions such as St. Michael’s College and the Pontifical Institute of Medieval Studies at the University of Toronto. The École biblique has also benefited from his generosity through the Canadian Association of Friends of the EBAF, which offers scholarships to young researchers.
May he rest in peace. Our gratitude remains.
