The École Biblique et Archéologique Française de Jérusalem (ÉBAF) invited the public to its “ÉBAF Thursday” on November 13 at 6:00 p.m., for a lecture by Fr Łukasz Popko, OP, entitled: “Who are the seraphim in the context of Trinitarian discussions?”
A Dominican friar and professor at the ÉBAF, Brother Łukasz specializes in the Old Testament and biblical poetry. He participates in major publishing projects such as the Biblia Hebraica Quinta and teaches several ancient languages. He is a member of the editorial committee of La Bible en ses traditions and, notably, the author, with Timothy Cardinal Radcliffe, of a book with a preface by Pope Francis: Questioning God.
His lecture explored the mysterious figure of the seraphim, those “burning” heavenly beings of Isaiah 6, and their possible connection to Trinitarian thought. Are they simply adoring creatures, or do they reflect something of the very mystery of God?
