BIBLE IN JERUSALEM 2023

Every year, a group of young Dominican friars, doctoral students in biblical studies or freshly minted doctors, arrives at the school in early January.

After years of interruption due to the pandemic, this beautiful initiative resumed this year, gathering a dozen Dominican friars from the United States, England, Italy, Poland, Croatia and Jerusalem.

It is an opportunity for each one to share quite freely the progress of his work, in a less formal setting than a doctoral seminar, and also to renew contact with the Ecole Biblique where almost all of them have studied.

Finally, each time, a day is devoted to visiting one or two archaeological sites.
This year, Fr. Yunus Demirci, professor of archaeology at the EBAF, guided the group to the sites of Tel Maresha and Gezer in the Shepherah.
It was a fascinating visit, under a beautiful winter sun.
