IN MEMORIAM PROFESSOR JEAN-LOUIS HUOT

The Friars of the École Biblique et Archéologique Française de Jérusalem pay tribute to the memory of Mr Jean-Louis Huot, who died on April 26.
Jean-Louis Huot was a scholarship student at the AIBL in Jerusalem in 1965-66. He worked at the École Biblique under the direction of Fr Roland de Vaux before beginning a brilliant career as an archaeologist, as director of the Archaeological Mission of Larsa-‘Oueili in Iraq from 1974 to 1990 and then of the French Institute of Near Eastern Archaeology in Beirut from 1999 to 2003. Professor of Oriental Archaeology at the Sorbonne, where he taught from 1969 to 1999, he is the author of numerous books and scientific articles. A generous man, he also knew how to transmit, he trained many archaeologists working in the Near East.

He donated his scientific library to the École Biblique de Jérusalem, for which we are very grateful.
